Status Report: About the Border, Immigration and Work

“Status Report” highlights the varied ways that contemporary artists have examined the themes of immigration, the border and work. Including art work in varied media by Latino and Mexican artists, the exhibition looks at these themes from an urban perspective, and recognizes the enormous growth in the Mexican population in New York — particularly in Brooklyn — in the last decade. Artists include Margarita Cabrera, Sergio de la Torre and Vicky Funari, Christina Fernandez, Coco Fusco, Erika Harrsch, Pedro Lasch, Delilah Montoya and Dulce Pinzón.” Runs until 6 PM.

“Revolution Cars” (Devrim Arabalari)tells of Turkey's first attempt to manufacture its own indigenous cars, the inner and outer resistance to the idea. The work reflects the atmosphere of early 1960's when these four-door passenger cars were manufactured by 23 Turkish engineers within 130 days. Directed by Tolga Ornek.
