The goal of The New York Times community affairs and media relations department is to enhance the communities that The New York Times serves.

Our focus is on multicultural outreach, arts and literature programs, education and literacy. To support that focus we:

Create special programs and events featuring Times journalists in libraries, community centers and arts organizations

Bring together community leaders for meetings with Times staff

Coordinate and promote debates between candidates for public office

Develop community awards programs

Sponsor cultural and civic events

Organizations we work with include AALDEF, Asian American International Film Festival, BAM, City University of New York, El Museo del Barrio, The Greater Harlem Chamber of Commerce, Latino International Theater Festival, NYC Mayor's Office of Immigrant Affairs, Public Libraries, New York Cares and Queens Council on the Arts.

We issue press releases and coordinate with other media organizations to arrange interviews with Times journalists. We also arrange interviews with New York Times business side executives.
