How do I get to Bryant Park?
 
Bryant Park is located behind The New York Public Library in midtown Manhattan, between 40th and 42nd Streets & Fifth and Sixth Avenues.

Take the F, V, B, or D train to 42nd Street/Bryant Park

Take the 7 train to 5th Avenue

Take the 4, 5 or 6 train or Metro North Railroad/LIRR to Grand Central Terminal and walk west

What panels will be featured?
 
This year, the events agenda is bigger and better than ever.

High-profile authors will participate in entertaining and thought-provoking panels with themes that cater to a range of interests, from business, real estate, and the politics of the Op-Ed page, to sports writing, health and wellness, and cooking. Please click here for a complete listing.
 
Will there be performances at the event?
 
Absolutely! Presenting sponsor Target is programming an exciting children's program which will last throughout the day. The New York Times stage will feature ethnic dancing, singing groups, one-on-one interviews and music from WQXR. Please click here for a complete schedule.
 
May I bring my own books or something other than books for authors to sign?
 
Authors will only be signing their current books. Also, please do not bring more than one book as lines may be long and we want to accommodate as many as we can.
 
Can I buy the authors’ books on site?
 
Yes. Barnes & Noble Booksellers will have an on-site store in Bryant Park, which will carry titles of all participating authors.  Target will have a children’s book store on site as well for the latest and greatest titles in children’s books.
 
Is this event child friendly?
 
Yes. Target, the presenting sponsor, will have a whole stage designed for children—kids of all ages can enjoy special readings and performances all day long. Clowns from Big Apple Circus will be entertaining visitors throughout the park from 2pm to 4pm. At any time, children can go for a ride on the Bryant Park carousel.
 
Do I need a ticket? Does this event cost money?
 
The Great Read in the Park is a FREE event and open to the public. Only The Great Brunch and The Great Tea are ticketed events.
 
Is food and drink available in the park?
 
Yes, 'wichcraft has multiple food stands selling breakfast all day, delicious sandwiches, soup, salads, beverages and desserts. For a sit-down meal, dine overlooking the park - and the event - at Bryant Park Grill on the east end of the park. There are also numerous restaurant options on 40th and 42nd Streets on the northern and southern sides of the park.
 
May I bring my own food and drink?
 
Sure, but please keep the event tents free of food and drink, and as always, please deposit trash in the proper receptacles.
 
Are Bryant Park and all The Great in the Park events easily accessible for physically challenged visitors?
 
Yes. If necessary, please see staff and ask for assistance. All event staff will be easy to spot in Great Read in the Park shirts and hats.
 
What if it rains on event day?
 
The Great Read in the Park will take place rain or shine.
 
Where are restrooms located?
 
Bryant Park's restrooms are located at the northeast corner of the park. Additional port-o-johns will be placed at the southeast end.
 
May I bring my dog to the Great Read?
 
You may bring your dog, providing you leash it, keep it from watering
trees and plants, and clean up after it. Dogs on the lawn and in tent areas are prohibited.
 
Where and when should I donate my books for the used books sale at Great Read?
 
The used books sale will not be a part of the Great Read event this year.
