Program Description
Invest in your startup dreams or take your company to the next level. Get the business know-how you need, and explore issues facing women entrepreneurs, in online courses and Webcasts from the Women's Entrepreneurship Institute (WEI).

The WEI offers a wide range of online courses covering virtually every aspect of starting and running a business. The courses include videotaped lectures, interviews with successful entrepreneurs, lively forums and chats, and comprehensive feedback on assigned projects and business plans. WEI courses are designed to be practical in nature, providing resources and templates that students can use as they start their own businesses. Students who complete five WEI courses receive a Certificate in Entrepreneurship.

The WEI also offers live, interactive Webcasts featuring business leaders and journalists from The New York Times, discussing important trends and issues for women in business today. Participants viewing live webcasts will have the opportunity for their questions to be answered during the session.

The Women's Entrepreneurship Institute is an exciting program developed by Northern Kentucky University and The New York Times Knowledge Network. The WEI provides valuable networking opportunities; connecting students with mentors as well as with other new entrepreneurs, helping them establish the professional connections that are vital to business success.

Northern Kentucky University was recently cited by Women 3.0 magazine as one of the Top 50 MBA programs for entrepreneurship.

About the Program Director
Rebecca J. White, Ph.D., is the Founding Director of the Fifth Third Bank Entrepreneurship Institute and Professor of Management and Entrepreneurship at Northern Kentucky University (NKU). As an educator, her primary research and teaching interests are in entrepreneurship education, funding strategies for startup firms and strategic leadership in entrepreneurial firms. She is also co-founder of RiskAware, LLC, (www.riskaware.com) a risk mitigation company for higher education and is the founder and CEO of adEsse LLC, a consulting company specializing in helping startup ventures and established firms integrate and utilize an entrepreneurial mindset.

Rebecca White received an MBA and a Ph.D. in Strategic Management from Virginia Tech University and a BS from Concord University.
