About the Panelists

Marci AlboherMarci Alboher writes the Shifting Careers column and blog for The New York Times. She is also the author of the book, "One Person/Multiple Careers: A New Model for Work/Life Success" (Warner Books, February 2007), which popularized the term "slash" to refer to a new breed of individuals who can't answer, "What do you do?" with a single response.

Her career insights have been featured throughout the media including the Today Show, The Wall Street Journal, MSNBC, CNBC, BusinessWeek Magazine, National Public Radio, USA Today, The Boston Globe, The Philadelphia Inquirer and The Kansas City Star. Marci is herself a slash. As an author/journalist/speaker, she began her career in law and after nearly ten years of practice, she used her law background as a springboard to a second career as a journalist. A popular teacher at the New York Writers Workshop, where she sits on the executive committee, she helps novices break into journalism and coaches a select group of experienced nonfiction writers to the next level. She is a sought-after speaker on workplace trends, career advice, and writing.

Marci Alboher is a graduate of The University of Pennsylvania and American University's Washington College of Law.

Marc FreedmanMarc Freedman is the founder and CEO of Civic Ventures, a think tank helping society achieve the greatest return on experience. He spearheaded creation of the Experience Corps, America's largest nonprofit national service program engaging individuals over 55, and The Purpose Prize, the nation's biggest investment in older social innovators.

An expert on baby boomers, work, and entrepreneurship, Marc was described by the Wall Street Journal "as a leading voice in discussions nationwide about the changing face of retirement." He is author of "Encore: Finding Work That Matters in the Second Half of Life"; "Prime Time: How Baby Boomers Will Revolutionize Retirement and Transform America"; and "The Kindness of Strangers". His new book, "On Purpose: Boomers, Work, and the Search for a Calling", will be published in 2009. Recognized by Fast Company magazine in 2007 and again in 2008 as one of the nation's leading social entrepreneurs, Freedman is widely published and quoted in the national media, and has been honored with numerous awards and fellowships.

Marc Freedman is a graduate of Swarthmore College with an MBA from Yale University and was a Visiting Fellow of Kings College, University of London.

Rebecca J. White, Ph.D.Rebecca J. White, Ph.D., is the Founding Director of the Fifth Third Bank Entrepreneurship Institute and Professor of Management and Entrepreneurship at Northern Kentucky University (NKU).
